Jamie-Lynn Kraft achieves highest mark on Canadian Trademark Agent Exam

Recently two of our Ottawa associates, Dan Hnatchuk and Jamie-Lynn Kraft, wrote and passed the Trademark Agent Qualifying Examination and will now be registered to practice as trademark agents in Canada.

We are especially pleased to announce that Jamie-Lynn achieved the highest mark overall in Canada on the exam. She will be awarded the Educational Foundation Award by the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada during the IPIC Annual Conference in Vancouver.

Kohji Suzuki, national chair of Smart & Biggar's Trademarks Practice group said, “We are very proud of Jamie-Lynn and note the significance of her achievement, considering there were approximately 120 individuals writing the Trademark agents exam across Canada. Her success highlights our firm’s commitment to providing the best counsel and service to our clients for trademarks and all areas of IP.”

The Trademark Agent Examination is a certification exam designed to assess the candidate’s knowledge of the Trademarks Act, the Trademarks Regulations, case law and Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) practice required in order to practice independently as a trademark agent. The IPIC Educational Foundation currently awards prizes for the students achieving the highest marks in the Patent Agent and Trademark Agent exams each year.
