Keltie Sim Luft and Nancy Pei named in the world’s 'Top 250 Women in IP'

Smart & Biggar is pleased to announce that partners Keltie Sim Luft and Nancy Pei have been recognized among the Top 250 Women in IP by Managing Intellectual Property as part of their IP Stars list for 2019.

This is an outstanding achievement for Keltie and Nancy, and they are two of only thirteen women in Canada to be featured among the 250 leading women in IP around the world. Nancy has received the honour since 2016, while this is Keltie’s first year of inclusion on the list. Smart & Biggar was also the only Canadian firm to have more than one practitioner listed, a demonstration of our excellence in intellectual property law and a reflection of the diversity and expertise of practitioners at the firm.

Keltie Sim Luft        Keltie is a leading lawyer with an unparalleled expertise in trademark strategy, counselling and procurement. Throughout her exceptional career, Keltie has advised a diverse range of clients across industries on domestic and international clearance, prosecution, portfolio management, acquisition and licensing of trademarks. She also heads the firm’s Marketing & Advertising practice advising clients on how to maximize the value of their brand building efforts while complying with Canadian regulations. Nancy Pei     

Nancy is a leading lawyer practicing exclusively in the field of life sciences (including pharmaceuticals, biologics, and medical devices) and advises clients on patent and regulatory matters and related litigation. She has represented clients before the Federal Court of Canada, the Federal Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court of Canada and the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, and under the Patented Medicines (Notice of Compliance) Regulations. Nancy’s training and hands-on experience as a pharmacist coupled with the expertise gained through her highly focussed practice afford her a unique position in examining broader patenting and regulatory issues of importance to her clients. Nancy has been the editor of Rx IP Update, the firm's monthly pharmaceutical intellectual property and regulatory newsletter, since its inception in 2001.
