February 8, 2018

Smart & Biggar is proud to announce that Managing IP (MIP) has short-listed the firm as a top contender across all 6 categories for their annual Americas Awards – more than any other firm in Canada.

The firm was short-listed as Canadian Firm of the Year for Patent Contentious, Patent Prosecution, Trade Mark Contentious, Trade Mark Prosecution, Copyright and IP Boutique of the Year.  In addition, two of our Partners, Steven Garland  and  Gunars Gaikis, were shortlisted for IP Practitioner of the Year, making Smart & Biggar the only firm with two nominees in this category.

The awards ceremony will take place on March 15, 2018 at Essex House in New York City.

MIP also recently announced the firm level rankings for the 2018 IP Stars Handbook: Trademarks, which featured Smart & Biggar once again as a “Tier 1” firm, at the top of the rankings for both Trade Mark Contentious and Trade Mark Prosecution.

The MIP Awards and IP Stars handbooks are Managing Intellectual Property’s specialist guides to the leading IP firms and practitioners worldwide.
