Smart & Biggar shortlisted for 5 awards by LMG Life Sciences

Smart & Biggar is pleased to announce that three of our partners have been shortlisted for individual awards by LMG Life Sciences, and the firm is also shortlisted for two firm-level awards. The LMG Life Sciences Awards recognize the leading attorneys, firms and in-house counsel teams that have played a significant role in the life sciences industry over the past year.

Gunars Gaikis   Gunars Gaikis is once again nominated for Canadian Patent Litigation Attorney of the Year. Gunars, who received this award in 2018, is described by clients and peers as a “seasoned gladiator” and “one of the best patent litigators since the industry began.”
Daphne Lainson       Daphne Lainson, who leads Smart & Biggar’s Life Sciences practice group, is shortlisted for Canadian Patent Non-Contentious Attorney of the Year. Daphne has been described as having “fantastic legal and business acumen, which she uses to provide thorough, best-in-class legal advice.”
Alice Tseng   Alice Tseng is nominated as Canadian Regulatory Attorney of the Year. Alice co-leads the firm’s Regulatory and Marketing & Advertising practice groups and is admired as “a very dedicated regulatory practitioner.”

On a firm level, Smart & Biggar is shortlisted for both Canadian Patent Contentious Firm of the Year and Canadian Patent Non-Contentious Firm of the Year. We were honoured to receive both these awards in 2018.

Winners will be announced on September 18, 2019 at the LMG Life Sciences Awards ceremony in New York City.
