Smart & Biggar partners support IPIC’s Intellectual Property Summer Program at McGill University

Smart & Biggar partner Ekaterina Tsimberis returned to her alma matter McGill University to serve as the Assistant Director of the 1-week course ” Understanding Trademarks” presented by the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC). 

Partners Christian Bolduc and Philip Lapin also participated in the course, and presenting on ‘Trademark Applications & Registrability Opinions’ and ‘Opposition Proceedings: Context & Strategy’.  Partner Matthew Zischka presented the previous week on ‘Patent Claims’ as part of a separate course “Understanding Patents”.

These 1-week courses are part of the “Intellectual Property Summer Program” offered each summer in collaboration by the IPIC and McGill University.  The program gathers the best practitioners in the field of intellectual property to conduct a series of intensive, practical courses. More than 2,500 professionals from the business, legal and public sectors have gained valuable insight and hands-on strategies by participating in this unique program.
