Smart & Biggar tops the rankings once again as an IP Stars leader in Canadian trademark law
February 2, 2017

Smart & Biggar has once again been recognized as one of the top trademark firms in Canada achieving “Tier 1” status in both Trade mark Contentious, and Trade mark Prosecution, for the fourth consecutive year in the 2017 edition of Managing Intellectual Property’s 2017 IP Stars Handbook: Trademarks.

IP Stars is Managing Intellectual Property’s specialist guide to the leading IP firms and practitioners worldwide. The guide reviews the world's leading IP firms for prosecution and contentious work and is the longest running analysis in the market. Rankings in the Handbooks are based on extensive research among IP practitioners carried out over a six month period. A team of researchers in London, New York and Hong Kong sought responses from thousands of practitioners by phone, surveys, email and in face-to-face meetings, making this the most comprehensive and authoritative survey of the IP legal market.

Firms cannot vote for their own inclusion or solicit votes from associates.  Moreover, the tables are not an exhaustive list of every firm in each jurisdiction; inclusion is based on merit and recommendation by peers and clients. Managing IP does not endorse or recommend any particular firm, and no firm has paid to be included in the rankings.

Smart & Biggar/Fetherstonhaugh is recognised as Canada’s largest and leading firm practising exclusively in intellectual property and technology law, with offices in Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and Calgary.
