Michael Sgro is an articling student in Smart & Biggar’s Ottawa office. He recently completed his Juris Doctor at the University of Toronto where, for the 2017-2018 academic year, he received the Fay Keen Prize.

Michael received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Toronto and his B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Western Ontario. He also completed post-doctoral work at the University of Calgary. During his undergraduate and graduate studies, Michael was a recipient of three national, three provincial and two institutional awards for research, and eight institutional awards for academic achievement.

Michael has worked with several industrial partners on the design of new technologies in the fields of polymers and semi-conductors. As a result of industry collaborations, he was named a co-inventor on three filed patents.
