David Gileff's practice involves all aspects of intellectual property law with a specific focus on electrical and computer-related patents, including patent drafting and prosecution in Canada and for clients based in the US and other jurisdictions.
Mr. Gileff has in-depth experience in conducting comprehensive and systematic validity searches and prior art searches on behalf of Canadian and foreign clients in connection with anticipated or ongoing patent litigation and IP-related due diligence investigations. Mr. Gileff also has experience with combating online trade-mark infringers such as anonymous purveyors of counterfeit or unauthorized infringing wares.
Prior to joining the firms, Mr. Gileff worked for several years as an electrical (computer) engineer at several technology companies, including Spectrum Signal Processing, Newbridge Networks and PMC-Sierra. In particular, he gained extensive experience working in the field of Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) design and verification.
During his legal studies, Mr. Gileff was the recipient of numerous scholarships and awards, including a prize in Industrial and Intellectual Property, and was designated a Westbrook Scholar for outstanding academic achievement and community service.
