Christine Genge is a member of the firm's Executive Committee and has been assisting clients in securing patent, industrial design and trademark protection for more than fifteen years.

Her practice is largely focussed on protecting mechanical innovation over a broad range of technologies, from high-tech and consumer products, to oil field related innovations. She is also a leader in industrial design protection. She heads the firm's industrial design practice group, she is a liaison to the Canadian Intellectual Property Office industrial design committee, and she is the Chair of the design committee of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada. She is among a select few Canadian practitioners with in-depth knowledge concerning the requirement of Canadian, U.S. and European design regimes.

Her client base extends well beyond Canada’s borders, including multinational companies from the US, Europe, Japan and Korea. She assists Fortune 50 companies in securing intellectual property protection in Canada, and advising on portfolio management, enforcement, and freedom-to-operate. Christine also works with Canadian innovator companies in securing intellectual property protection in Canada, the US and abroad.

She is a mechanical engineer by training, and prior to pursuing a legal career, worked as a research engineer in mechanical aspects of silicon and circuit packaging. Her experience in industry is a particular asset to her clients, providing practical insights into commercialization strategies.

Christine is also an editor of IP Update — Canada, the firm's intellectual property law bulletin, and serves on the firm's Professional Personnel Committee.
