Biography
John Bochnovic is a partner in our Ottawa office and is Chair of the firms. Mr. Bochnovic has over twenty-five years of wide-ranging advisory experience with patent, trade-mark and copyright issues relating to the pharmaceutical, communications, computer and electronics sectors. He has extensive experience with intellectual property law, particularly in litigation, including multi-jurisdictional litigation involving parties in the United States and Europe.
Mr. Bochnovic was a research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Patent, Copyright and Competition Law in Munich. He is fluent in German.
In addition to having taught patent law at the University of Ottawa Law School for many years, Mr. Bochnovic has presented papers on intellectual property law in Canada, the United States and abroad.
Mr. Bochnovic is listed in Euromoney's Guide to the World's Leading Patent Law Experts and Guide to the World's Leading Trade Mark Law Practitioners, and in the Canadian Legal LEXPERT Directory as a leading intellectual property lawyer. He is also recognized in the International Who's Who of Patent Lawyers, the Chambers Global Guide, The Best Lawyers in Canada, the iam 250 – The World's Leading IP Strategists and in PLC Which Lawyer?. Mr. Bochnovic is a recipient of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) Award of Merit.
